Charlotte Tilbury Modern Matte Pillow Talk Lipstick REVIEW and swatches

I've been an increasing fan of Charlotte Tilbury's products. I first started with her Multi miracle glow cleansing balm, which got me to checking out her makeup products. One of her most famous items is the pillow talk lipcheat. I don't really use lipliners so I never purchased it, but when I caught wind of this being offered in lipstick form, I paid close attention for Nordstrom's release. This lipstick is offered through her site, but I personally wanted to go into stores to swatch it first.

Charlotte Tilbury pillow talk lipstick, $35

Pillow Talk is a shade that is universally flattering on all skin tones, which is why it is so popular. I tried on this lipstick and it is an awesome 'my lips but better' shade. It is matte, but doesn't feel drying or wash me out. I especially love how simple it is and does not require much touch ups. The tube that it sits in is gorgeous. The shiny copper/gold color with the ripples make it look expensive but also retro.

Application/texture: Easily glides on and sits nicely on the lips. Does not feel drying or sticky. I almost forget I have it on sometimes!
Staying power: This lasts 3 hours on me.
Scent: It has a sweet vanilla scent, but goes away quickly.
Pigmentation: It is fairly pigmented. Though it is a nude-ish shade, it shows up well on my pigmented lips.
Overall: It is a great product at $35 because it goes with everything. It is flattering on all skin tones and does not feel drying despite being a matte. It is also very easy to apply and does not need a lot of fuss. I think I found my go-to lipstick of all time!

YSL Volupte Tint-in-Balm in Call me Rose (3) REVIEW and swatches

With the Sephora VIB Rouge spring 2017 sale happening, I finally allowed myself to pick up some beauty products. Most were necessities like skincare, but I did have some fun and picked up other items. If you are interested in the items, visit my youtube video. I didn't do reviews of some items as they are either gifts or not 'swatchable'.

The item I am very excited about today is the YSL Tint-in-Balm. They come in many colors, but all of them have an outer core of sheer balm followed with an inner pigmented area. The result is a moisturizing product with some color.

Application/texture: The application is soooo smooth. It glides on like a lip balm and leaves it shiny with a hint of color. It also feels very light on the lips.

Scent: a fruity fresh scent that dissipates quickly after application

Staying power: This lasts about 2-3 hrs before I need to apply again for moisture.

Pigmentation: This does not show up very well on my pigmented lips, but does change the color slightly.

Overall: I really like this balm. I am more of a balm person than a lipstick person. However, some hint of color never is a bad thing. With the gorgeous packaging, I will definitely try a different shade if I had to treat myself to something nice!

Marc Jacobs High and Fine Eyeliner collection REVIEW and swatches

No one likes running eyeliners, and finding that perfect eyeliner isn't always easy. I am here today to share a product with you that lines my eyes perfectly and stays put. I am talking about the Marc Jacobs Highliner and Fineliner. Both of these products glides nicely on the lids and stay put all day. They also come in an array of colors so you definitely can find something that suits you! This particular set comes with 4 shades and 2 sizes - it is a great starter kit if you have never tried eyeliners from Marc Jacobs Beauty.

Marc Jacobs High and Fine Collection, $29
Sephora and Neiman Marcus (http://bit.ly/2ntZH0B)

The smudge test (applying, letting dry, and rubbing with my fingers) showed that all of the shades stayed on pretty strongly. Obviously, I wouldn't rub my eyes this hard, but if it doesn't come off from my hands it probably will stay on my lids.

I have oily lids so I tend to line my eyes with powder. Powder allows absorbance of the oil and takes longer to break down. Both of these eyeliners are strong enough to stay for 12 hours. I really like that they are easy to apply and come in different sizes. The fine eyeliner allows for very precise lining and the highliner is great for giving more volume to the eyes. I like them both!
Did I mention these were also waterproof? Waterproof products generally work amazing with my oily lids and you don't have to worry when you travel to more humid or rainy areas.

Application/texture: The application is super easy. You twist up the pencil and just glide on. No tugging or sharpening required!
Scent: None detected.
Lasting power: About 12 hours, depending on the weather.
Overall: I really, really like this eyeliner. The nude shade really allows for tightlining and opening the eyes while the black shade is an overall awesome eyeliner. I would definitely recommend this set, especially for less than $30!

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nail Polish in Plush Blush (234) REVIEW Swatches

I love pink polishes. The more pastel and light the pink is, the more I swoon over them. As you might imagine, after a while I would have every possible shade of light pink polishes! I was pleasantly surprised that this pink polish has a bit of sheen to it. It isn't a cream and not metallic, but something right in between. It looks gorgeous!

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nail Polish in Plush Blush
Target, $9.99

Application/Texture: Like all other SH Miracle Gel Nail polishes, this one was smooth and easy to apply. It took 2 coats to get an opaque look. It wasn't goopy with the layers.
Staying power: This lasted 4 days without chipping on me. I did have a SH gel top coat.
Overall: I really love this shade. I am a bit biased since it is a light pink color, but it you like something just a little bit different than a baby pink I would highly recommend!

Clinique Honey, Honey Lip Set REVIEW and swatches - black honey

First post in the new year! It has been a while, hasn't it? It has been crazy during the holidays and then I got sick. Glad it didn't all happen at the same time, but nonetheless I am back for a review. I have definitely slowed down in my posts because I have slowed down in the purchase of cosmetics. It has been more skincare, but those are quite hard to review because everyone's skin is so different! In any case, makeup-wise I have been going back to tried and trues. When you find something good, you stick with it!

Today, I am reviewing a many people's tried and true item. Though new to me, I can see why it is on a lot of people's favorites. I am talking about the Clinique Black Honey almost lipstick. This lipstick/balm has no gimick or fancy packaging. It is very moisturizing and gives just the perfect tint to your lips that can be built up. It is also very flattering across most skintones!

Clinique Honey, Honey Lip set, $25 at Sephora
The set includes the famed Black Honey almost lipstick as well as the Pink Honey almost lipstick. Then each of those shade also comes with a round container that has a lipscrub on one side and a lip balm on the other. I found the lipbalms and lipscrubs ineffective. It was difficult to use and I don't see why the lipscrubs should have any color. It makes clean up much harder and messy. The lip balms do not have any color and I didn't take a photo of the swatch as a result. It is moisturizing, but I think other lip scrubs and lip balms will work better.

The almost lipstick, however, are quite nice. It is moisturizing and smooth to apply. It feels a lot more plush than other lipstick, but still give you a bit of color that can be built up.

Application/texture: The texture is more balmy than lipstick. It is easily spread across your lips when you rub your lips together.
Scent: it has a slight lipstick flavor to it, but nothing too strong.
Staying power: The color last about 2 hours and the moisture last 3 hours. It doesn't become necessarily dry after 3 hours, but it just doesn't feel moisturizing anymore.
Overall: The set sells for $25 and includes 4 items. When you consider the almost lipsticks on their own is $17 a piece, this set is a great value! The current almost lipstick packaging looks more updated and pretty in their silver packaging, but this one works just as nicely! Though I wouldn't pay for the lipbalm/lipscrub combo, at a few more dollars in this set I wouldn't mind keeping it in my collection.

Thanks for reading!

Dior Total Matte Smokey Eye Palette REVIEW and swatches

I love the holidays because there are just so much festivities and love all around. One of my favorite things to do is to shop for presents. I love opening presents with my family on Christmas Day almost as much as I love shopping for them! As mentioned in my post before, I purchased the Dior Total Matte Eye Palette. Holiday packaging is also so much prettier! I've used it for about a month now quite consistently so I would like to share my thoughts on it.

The Dior Total Matte Eye Palette comes with 3 shadows, 1 eye brow shade, and 1 wax. The 3 shadows are all matte and are your basic shades. There is a cream/white shade, a black shade, and brown shade. They are all housed with a dual end applicator - sponge and angle liner. All of that sits in a faux leather zip box that can easily be carried on the go. The little mirror makes it easy to apply your makeup without being too bulky or heavy.

The eyeshadows are very pigmented, though not as pigmented as my Tarte eyeshadows but still get things done. The staying power is pretty good. Though I haven't used the wax, the eye brow powder works great and stays nicely.

Application/texture: The eyeshadows are finely milled and easily apply onto the eyelids, lash line and brows.
Scent: None
Staying power: About 20 hours.
Overall: It is a bit pricey for an eyeshadow palette. $62 isn't something to just throw around. I definitely think there are cheaper options out there and I don't think the faux leather is all that great. It certainly is dazzling, but it is a little more bulky to just throw into the purse. It feels sturdy and I definitely would recommend it if you were planning on splurging on anything.

Sephora 2016 VIB Rouge Holiday picks

Hello all! The holiday season is arriving soon and I am so very excited to be getting a list together for the Sephora VIB Rouge sale. It started November 4th 2016 for VIB Rouge members and will start very soon for VIB members as well. If you qualify under either of these two tiers, you get 20% off your entire purchase as many times as you want during the few days the event is opened.

This is a great time to stock up, try new items, or get the cute holiday themed products to give as gifts. See below for the top 10 on my list this year. I definitely will be getting more than this, but wanted to share what I must have in my cart.

1) Sephora collection House of Lashes HOLiday Gem lash set, $24
This is a great set for traveling! It comes with a beautiful brushed/rose gold compact that can house up to 3 lashes. It also comes with glue that fits inside the container! For $24, the lashes alone is worth that price.

2) Miu Miu Mini Gift Set, $28
This little set is so adorable. It comes in perfect packaging - ready for gifting! The rollerball alone is $28 normally so this kit basically gives you the extra perfume for free. It also smells great!

3) Too Faced Mr. Right - the Perfect Powder Brush, $36
This brush is the cutest thing! It has a blue handle with a gold ferrule and super soft bristles! This is great for powders, finishing powder, and blushes. I have used Too Faced brushes in the past and they are one of the softest I have ever used. I have high hopes for this one!

4) Lancome Bienfait Multi-vital Lotion SPF30, $49
This is an oldie but a goodie. It isn't exciting or cute, but it does pack a good punch. I use this every morning as my moisturizer and skin protector. I love how light it is and also that it doesn't have too much of a scent. It is a staple in my getting-ready routine. If you are looking for a light moisturizer, I would suggest this one.

5) Drunk Elephant Dayglow, $23
This comes with 0.27oz of C-Firma Day Serum and 0.27 oz of B-hydra Intensive Hydration Gel. Full size is normally 1 oz and costs about $80. I have been wanting to try this brand, but didn't want to drop $80 to try. This set is a great way to see if you like it!

6) Sephora Favorites, Scouted by Sephora, $44
This set is a great introduction to many of the best skincare products. It comes in an array of items such as lip balm, day serum, lash growth serum, face mist, face polish, mask, night gel, and a glycolic facial treatment. It is basically your home face spa in a box.

7) Dior Total Matte Smokey Eye Palette, $62
Dior anything is always luxurious and pretty. This one is also very useful. It comes in a beautiful zip pouch and has 4 shadows and a wax. The shadows are matte so you can use it to line your eyes, fill in your brows, or as eyeshadows. It comes with a small brush that has a liner brush and a sponge applicator. The light shade can be used as a brightener, while the black and brown shades are great for a smokey eye look. Highly looking forward to using this palette!

8) Dior Diorshow Iconic Overcurl set, $29.50
This is a set that comes every holiday season and I always get it. I love the Iconic Overcurl mascara and the set basically gives you the small eyeshadow for free given the price. The eyeshadow is very pretty and is a great travel companion.

9) It's Skin Cookie & Body Ice Cream, $10
This tub of cream smells exactly like ice cream. It is also very moisturizing. Choose from Strawberry, Mint, and original flavor. For $10, what else can you ask for? Perfect stocking stuffer!

10) Guerlain Meteorites Illumintation Powder Pearls, $62
I am getting this in the clair 02 shade. Beware that this does have a strong floral scent. I get past that because of how pretty the pearls are. It comes with a powder puff and I have been told that this lasts you 7 years. So what appears to be very expensive for some illuminating finishing powder actually isn't that bad when spread over 7 years usage. If you are afraid of spillage, it also comes in a compact form!

I hope you found this list helpful. I personally will get more than these 10 items, but I wanted to get this out there asap so you can take advantage of the sale. Let me know what you guys also purchased! I would love to know if I am missing something good :)
